Be An Angel In The Life of a Child

What we do

Why This Matters & How We Help

There are thousands of street children in Uganda living in poverty, hunger and experiencing violence. Uganda has one of the largest populations of young people in the world, with over 56% of its population under the age of 18. Children are also the single largest demographic group living in poverty Uganda. Uganda hosts one of the world’s largest refugee populations, forced to flee their homes from conflict in the DRC and South Sudan, leaving families stranded in camps.

Children are also the single largest demographic group living in poverty Uganda. Uganda hosts one of the world’s largest refugee populations, forced to flee their homes from conflict in the DRC and South Sudan, leaving families stranded in camps. In Kampala and other cities, there are thousands of street-connected children who are supporting their families by working on the streets instead of going to school. Whether living on the streets or in refugee camps, The Angel Outreach believes no child should be left behind.

How We Began & How We Help

Because our founder was born and raised in Uganda, she understands how to cut through barriers and make good things happen for children quickly. In the summer of 2016, she launched the first Angel Outreach home in Uganda, using funds she had earned working in the USA. She knew she could not help every child, but believed in the power of each person to change a life, so she got to work with what she had. To ensure each child gets a good education, Winfred established a boarding school scholarship fund to send each child of school age to three semesters of boarding school annually. In addition to her own funds, Winfred began to invite others to support these precious children - giving them hope and a future.

Our Vision for 2021

In 2020, The Angel Outreach became a 501c3 charity in the USA to enable growth to serve more children. "Our goal is to raise enough funds in 2021 to build a home for 15 more children. We need $80,000 now to build a safe, fenced house with a working farm. We have already secured commitments to cover annual costs once the house is built," said Founder Winfred Baker.

Our mission

Our mission Statement - To provide support services and aid to meet the needs of children identified as "at risk" or suffering from abandonment, abuse, or neglect. No child should be left without the basic necessities of life regardless of their life's circumstances.

Belief Statement: We believe that all children deserve to be nurtured, loved and protected. They are entitled to have caring adults who help them to develop to their full potential in life.

Education is making a difference

On my last trip to Uganda, I was very pleased with the progress of our boys and girls are making in their education. We recorded a few of our boys sharing their goals for the future. Your support has taken them from the streets to a safe home and great education. They are working hard to make their dreams come true. THANK YOU!

Founder Winfred Nakyazze launched The Angel Outreach in 2016 to serve children and families in need in Kampala. Uganda. In 2023, after being urged by many friends and colleagues for several years, Winfred worked with her board to expand The Angel Outreach to serve children and families in the USA. "There are people in need all over the world and I am passionate about doing all I can to help others. It makes sense to make a difference in the countries where I have citizenship and easy access to the people and resources that can help children and families improve their lives", said Winfred.

"Partnering with The Angel Outreach Founder Winfred Nakyazze Baker is always a pleasure. Her wisdom, passion, professionalism and faith combine to make her a true national treasure and asset for our homeland, Uganda. Her efforts over nearly a decade have saved Ugandan lives, equipped medical communities, and strengthened families. We are excited about her latest projects that are creating systems and assets to protect and educate children with special needs."
